Confidence is the New Beautiful

How many times have we heard the statement Confidence is the New Beautiful? How many of us feel confident in ourselves just the way we are? It is really tough to love yourself, from the way you look to the way you act to the way you succeed or fail in life. With social media also being a constant factor drumming in our heads, to share your life with others, we all think what to post and what not to post. Some are more daring than others because they are more confident and they are not scared of what society says.

Do you agree with me though on the fact that when you feel content in your heart, your inner most beauty shines and radiates outwards or do you always feel the total opposite?

It took me quite a lot of time to learn and am still learning is that how I feel about myself, and how I carry myself is ultimately more important than how I look on the outside. Many people find other qualities more important than looks. Other qualities like confidence and self-esteem and compassion!

Confidence can make anybody more beautiful, or in a more extravagant word – bolder. If you are already a beautiful person you will be looked at as even more beautiful if you are confident. If you lack pleasing physical attributes but you carry yourself with grace, confidence and exuberance, people will fall in love with your personality, remember you and it would be extremely easy for you to set your credibility of excellence just by how you carry yourself. Confident people (not arrogant ones! important distinction) are great to be around. They are more nurturing, easier to talk to, and just seem like a breath of fresh air. I’m interested to get your opinions on this.

What is beautiful for one person is not the same beautiful for another and despite what society keeps pressuring us all to keep looking similar, what we should be focusing more on is on our inner beauty because that has an intangible value to help us and others get through life. Of course the gorgeous models get the top model jobs on the cover of the Vogue magazines but there will be a time when this will change too. There are so many beautifully fulfilled people in the world who have achieved great things and have fulfilling lives and they will be remembered for what they left behind for others to remember. Those kind of people will be more and more on magazine covers I think because their confidence is way more beautiful than what meets the eye.

It’s really important for us to all remember that we are all beautiful and special in our unique way, no matter what age, race, gender, sexual inclination, body type we are, because our soul is the most beautiful and most precious thing we possess. I have to try to somehow teach this to my baby girl Luna –  as she will start facing life more and more on her own and she will begin to understand the challenges of life and self development better – is that external beauty has an expiry date.

When we are 70 years old, we will all look pretty much the same! So if we try to focus more on our skills or challenges, on our intelligence, our communication skills and our care for each other wouldn’t we feel so much happier and more beautiful and confident?

I’m no model and I’m no beauty pageant material. I’m just a 43 year old 5 foot 3 inch blogger and entrepreneur who enjoys communicating her thoughts and journey through life, and my experiences through content sharing here, on Facebook and Instagram mostly. My blog is a communication opportunity for me, a platform to share many things. It has also been a learning curve alright, and challenging for me on a personal level. It is a psychologically challenging job too because I know that some might agree and some might disagree with my thoughts or my style choices but I keep doing it because it gives me interesting purpose and goals to aim for and it is fun to see how it has developed over the few years.

If it wasn’t for some self-confidence and perseverance to do something for myself even against some friction from people on our little island who still don’t understand what blogging is, I would still be contemplating starting. How many of you get crushed down when you are about to start something new? A new job, a new hobby, a new relationship. Do you always obey what others say or do you go away and do what your gutt tells you to do?

I just feel that everyone has a story to tell and the more experience you gain, the more beautiful you become in my eyes and in other people’s eyes. I personally see beauty beyond the eye and I m more attracted to beautiful hearts. You? #FoodForThought
