WHEN YOUR CUP IS EMPTY

I wrote about stress and burnout many years ago — and the message still feels relevant today.

But with the awareness I have now, I see burnout differently.

As women, we are so often the ones who keep everything moving.

We care for our children.
We care for our partners.
We work, we build, we organise, we remember, we support, we nurture…

And somewhere along the way, we can become so used to giving that we forget to ask:

“What do I need?”

We keep pouring from a cup that is already empty.

But the truth is, you cannot keep giving from emptiness without eventually feeling the cost.

Sometimes stress isn’t a sign that you need to become stronger.

Sometimes it’s your body asking you to stop, breathe and come back to yourself.

Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish.
Rest isn’t weakness.
Boundaries aren’t rejection.
And putting yourself back on your own priority list doesn’t make you a bad mother, partner, friend or woman.

It makes you human.

Today, I believe caring for ourselves is part of caring for the people we love.

Because our children don’t just need everything we can do for them.

They need us — present, alive, connected and well.

So this is your reminder:

✨ Fill your own cup too.
✨ Protect your energy.
✨ Listen to your body.
✨ Give yourself permission to pause.

You don’t have to earn rest.

And you don’t have to wait until you’re completely empty to refill yourself.

You matter too. 🤍
