Time to Meet Christina Jewelry Designer and Entrepreneur

Last week, I was invited to attend a special beginning of year event held by 202 Jewellery in Valletta for the management and members of staff of 202. To my pleasant surprise, the main guest of honour was Christina Hembo the designer and entrepreneur who owns the company Christina Design London. She was here visiting to launch her new collection and I was allocated some exclusive time to meet her in person to share some information with you on the blog!

About Christina Hembo

For those of you who don’t know, Christina a career woman, married and a mum of two beautiful children is a talented woman who designs beautiful watches and jewellery, which are handmade in Switzerland and distributed to over 20 countries in the world.

Christina graduated with a masters degree from the University of the Arts in London and it was here that her passion and the pursuit to follow her instincts began.

Supported by her husband and family, she had a strong will to create something unique but special and sentimental to who would own the pieces. Her vision from the very start was to design luxurious watches and jewellery using very good quality products with great attention to detail at the best prices on the market.

INTERVIEW

Christina Hembo is such an approachable and charismatic person, with a bright sparkle in her bright blue eyes and a permanent smile on her face, I found it quite easy to ask her a few questions

You are married and a mum of two kids. How do you juggle it all?

I have a great support system at home and my family help me out when I’m out running errands or travelling. My husband is taking care of the kids this weekend and to my surprise they are really well behaved and self-sufficient when I’m not home. Isn’t that incredible! We just get on with our lives as normal families do and we are very practical.

I love your jewellery! Explain to my followers the idea behind the Christina Collect concept. How does it work?

The “Christina Collect” concept allows you to give your Christina watch an extra dimension by turning it into a piece of jewellery. In a few seconds you can transform the look of your watch by easily changing your strap to a differently coloured strap or changing the special patented bezel from a basic look into a sparkling bezel with diamonds or maybe 54 black sapphires and much more.

The T-bar takes the Christina Collect concept to yet another dimension. Now women across the globe are able to change the look on their wrists. The Christina T-Bar gives the wearer the opportunity to easily replace the leather strap on a Christina Collect watch with a leather cord that in turn can be adorned with beautiful silver and/or gold plated charms, and charms that are adorned by real gemstones.

You must be so proud to have your pieces around the world? How does it feel?

Well I feel very grateful and happy when I travel to places to meet the teams in the shops, to meet not only the persons who sell my designs but also customers who buy them. I get so happy when I hear people telling me “ I got this charm on my 50th Birthday and this charm from my daughter on my anniversary”. It is amazing for me to hear how they remember every charm they have bought or received and that is what makes each piece special. It is full of memories for each owner to create and to treasure.

I enjoy exercising as part of my everyday routine. Is it the same for you? You look incredible!

Yes, I also enjoy exercising as part of my routine. Whether it is jogging or cycling I find it helps me relax my mind and gives me good energy for the rest of the day.

What are you here to launch this season?

This season we are launching a few new items including a new silver bracelet for the collectable charms, all hand-made and hand-crafted with love. Customers can create their own story. Here is one example. Important to note that this design has a magnet at the end of the bracelet so as you are inserting the charms, the others do not fall out. Very practical thing!

Christina and I enjoyed a few tasty canapes and a couple of drinks together at this event. I was also given one of the newly launched Christina bracelet with a handpainted charm. What can I say except that I’m very grateful for this kind thought and I will treasure this, all the more because I have met you in person Christina! Thanks to 202 Jewellery for this surprise.
