New Designers, SANJA and NILARA on Day 5 of #MFWA19

Fashion is always looking for new ideas and nothing is better than to tap at the source of creativity that is the prerogative of young people. In the last few years fashion system, maybe bored by the syndrome of stylistic similarity that has affected the fashion world during a long period, we are more and more realising the great importance of young designers who find new ideas and face the market with courage.

Because young people are still brave, excited to make themself known, to show all their creativity and to bring out their voice in the noisy world of traditional market. In one world? They are the dreamers and it is always wonderful to witness new and upcoming ones everywhere including on our little island Malta. Everyone begins from zero right?

The show of the New Designers featured 10 designers, 7 students from MCAST (Natasha Polidano, Andre Xiberras, Dhalia Grech, Alicia Busuttil, Anthea Calleja, Martha Camilleri, Danial Gitmanovich) and another 3 designers (Christine Ann, Eversinc, Nikolai Mifsud), handpicked by Malta Fashion Week from the applicants that put their name forward to participate. Lead makeup artist for this show was Marlene Vassallo whilst lead hair stylist was Dominic J Bartolo. I loved the presentations especially Natasha Polidano’s Collection! Well done to all!

ALKEBULAN by NILARA

The highlight of the evening was Nilara designed and co-ordinated by Nilay Camilleri. A person in the fashion industry who needs no introduction for her show stopping pieces and aggressive collections in previous years, this year she showcased a more soft and playful collection, a vibrant expression of femminity and confidence inspired be the African culture.

We saw beautiful models on the runway having fun to the pumping music, wearing a cool hairstyle with mini space buns by the hair team led by Vanuska Mifsud and gorgeous creative makeup led by Elaine Galea. I had so much fun watching the show and so did the crowd present. That is always expected from NILARA’s shows as she knows how to entertain people on and off catwalks and I just can’t wait to sport one of these outfits very soon!
