Last weekend, I had a pleasant weekend getaway with my husband in the “eternal city”, the city of Rome. It was my birthday treat, so I was invited to do things that make me happy including enjoying good food and wine, exploring some city attractions, a little shopping and also taking photos to share with you in my fashion and travel blog.
A week prior to our holiday, I went to Rebelli, one of the best shopping paradises in Malta for designer fashion clothing and accessories and I asked the team to help style an outfit for me for my birthday trip in Rome. My brief to them was that a) I wanted to be stylish, b) comfortable during the day, c) I intended to wear this outfit to walk around through the streets, stop for coffees and to explore the Italian city I love so much.
The Look
The Rebelli Team recommended the brand Michael Kors. We chose a chic look by mixing items from their spring/summer collection 2016. A white short sleeved silk shirt with gold trimmings, blue skinny trousers, the fabulous flower patterned jacket and to complete the look the Taryn bag and wedge shoes in white. This was it! I absolutely loved it and couldn’t wait to wear it!
Michael Kors as most fashion lovers know is a leading American fashion designer brand for luxury accessories and sportswear, that is becoming very popular in Malta too. The company’s heritage is rooted in producing elegant, sleek, sophisticated American leisurewear with a jet-set attitude. Whether New York, Palm Beach or Capri, their mission is to bring a vision of a jet-set, luxury lifestyle to women and men around the globe.
Fontana di Trevi
This holiday, one of the places we paid a visit to is the Fontana di Trevi a masterpiece by Bernini and Nicola Salvi. This fountain provided the splendid setting for the best-known scene from the classic film “La Dolce Vita” in which a provocative Anita Ekberg wearing a long black evening dress calls out for Marcello Mastroianni, “Marcello, Come Here!” as she glides through the fountain’s glittery waters.
It is custom here that when you throw a coin with your right hand over your left shoulder into the water of the fountain, you will most certainly return to Rome. So, I threw a coin which unfortunately hit a young lady in the face, poor girl. After I apologised profusely, I relaxed enough to throw another coin! I really do wish to return many more times!
Best Italian Ice Creams
It was a warm weekend, weather for licking sweet melting scoops of gelato so we had to try some flavours! One of the best ice cream shops close to the Fontana di Trevi is called Valentino. Ask about it. Most Romans know where it is. Another ice cream shop I love is Ciampini in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina, Via del Corso. I recommend raspberry and nutella with a dash of whipped cream. O M G. To die for.
In the afternoon, on our way back to the hotel, we stopped at a Michael Kors store to check out the collection of bags and accessories. I had never been to this particular one. Wow! I loved the bags especially the white Rhea Zip model. Most of these are also available at Rebelli in Malta, perhaps in different colours to the ones shown here. The ladies in the Michael Kors store absolutely loved my outfit. Thank you once again Rebelli Team for your warm greeting and VIP service every time.
