On Valentines Day, this romantic day filled with candy hearts, sweet talking, lots of chocolate and many extra kisses, feeling good is something I like to do. Not for my husband Marco alone, but for myself, because when I feel good, he’s happy, and so we are both happy. This Valentine’s Day, I didn’t put any pressure on him for anything but I left it to him to organise the surprise evening dinner date, just because I’m the one organising dates most of the time.
That day, I worked during the day till 3 pm which gave me an exciting afternoon to plan what to wear for our the dinner date and much more! Marco’s Valentine’s Day gift to me was a day full of surprises starting with a hair and makeup makeover at Inglot at The Point in Sliema with Baileys served all afternoon. He also booked a photoshoot for me with local photographer Ron Kerr to be able to take photos of the lovely dress, and hair and makeup to share on the blog. That was so thoughtful!!
I found a note from him at Inglot saying
“ I hope you enjoy your makeover at Inglot. Catch you later. Be ready at 8pm! XXX M ”
I really enjoyed the makeover! Since I planned to wear a green velvet dress with lace trimmings, I thought of going for a vintage-inspired hairstyle as recommended by Robert the stylist at Inglot at The Point. Make up also was to be classic – red lips, soft on the eyes with a black winged eyeliner.
I got to this amazing room at The Palace and on the bed I found a note together with a bouquet of 20 beautiful white roses.
“Enjoy the shoot. Look forward to see the photos. XXX M”
I was very fortunate to shoot the outfit in the designer MUSIC SUITE at The Palace, Sliema. Thank you to the team for your warm welcome at such short notice! But that’s life – sometimes the things you plan quickly turn out better than the ones you plan weeks and months in advance! We just go with the beat of the drums!
Valentines Date Look
To go on my dinner date with my lovely man, I decided to go for something that is not black nor red, to be different, so I chose to wear this interesting green velvet and lace dress from BBY. I had it delivered to my home a day prior to Valentines Day and as always, I was very happy with my purchase. Have a look at BBY’ s Facebook page for other similar dresses. I paired it with my Michael Kors sandals and purse from Rebelli.
About the MUSIC SUITE at The Palace, Sliema
As a luxury traveller and blogger, one of the exciting things that tickle my excitement buds is discovering new rooms in new hotels. It is such a thrilling experience when you walk in the room first and foremost and then you start discovering features and little special details little by little, during your stay, backed up by the hospitality offered by the hotel and all the other amenities. I love this holiday feeling!
What I learnt about this hotel suite as all the Designer at The Palace Hotel is that is has been specifically decorated and designed to ensure maximum enjoyment and enhance the overall experience for each guest’s stay. Each designer suite is an individual masterpiece which transports you to a different world! In the case of the MUSIC SUITE you are invited to experience a taste of the music world. You see and walk through the hall of fame, decorated with numerous memorabilia of well-known celebrities from the music industry including the world-famous Beatles. Some of these celebrities have actually stayed in this fantastic room.
The room boasts two beautiful double beds next to each other designed for the exceptional comfort to rest blissfully from your hectic “rock star” lifestyle, with sound proof walls allowing you to enjoy the centrepiece of the room in your own environment. This night was going to be a romantic one, being Valentines, but ….if we were to plan a fun party with our fun-loving friends, this would surely be an impressive venue, drum rolls and all!
One of the highlights of the room is the high end sound system, connected with speakers especially designed for crisp sound with a flat screen TV, so you can enjoy all your favourite songs and tracks. I loved the frames with the black and white photos of music artists on the walls and the real drum kits. And of course, you will simply love the breath-taking panoramic views stretching from the city of Valletta all the way up to Sliema. For music lovers and for guests who wish to experience something unique, well this is certainly one address to consider! We will be there again in a heart beat, maybe to check out one of the other designer suites? ……..
