Hotel Review of The Village Boutique and Spa Malta

Every hotel has its own unique experiences, to explore, to share, to treasure. Whether it’s travelling solo on a work trip, in couples for a romantic getaway or with family members on a relaxing break, the hotel we choose always makes a huge difference. On the 17th of December, we checked in the Village Boutique and Spa Malta for 2 nights – When I say me I mean my daughter, myself and my bestie Denis Aljush from the Fashion Blog .

Since it’s a local hotel and it’s Christmas week, we thought we d organise a little Christmas Photoshoot during our stay to show you the property and also a few fashion outfits we chose for the festive season. Hope you enjoy what we prepared for you!

We checked into the hotel early afternoon and were welcomed by extremely friendly members of the team. They gave us our Room Keys and gave us a brief showround of the pretty boutique hotel nested in the heart of Naxxar. From the outside, from the street, you would never imagine that this gem of a property, is hidden so gracefully in Giuseppe Stivala Alley 1 in Naxxar just in 224 m from the centre and yet boasts wonderful countryside views from the rooms! The design was very thoughtfully executed. Speaking about the design and decor, it is a stylish blend of contemporary modern and classic exuberance, cleverly mixed together to give that 5 star feeling and yet relaxing to the eye with the use of colourful wallpaper and fresh plants around the indoor and outdoor areas.

OVERVIEW

As an overview, the Village Boutique and SPA features a restaurant, fitness centre, a bar and shared lounge in Naxxar. 2.7 km from Mosta Dome, the hotel features a garden and a terrace. The accommodation provides a sauna, free WiFi throughout the property and family rooms.

Each room is fitted with air conditioning, a seating area, a flat-screen TV with cable channels, a safety deposit box and a private bathroom with a shower, bathrobes and slippers and the rooms come with bed linen and towels.

You can take advantage of a huge range of services: lovely garden, modern spa complex, outdoor swimming pool, it’s allowed to check into with pets, laundry service, internet services. Tourists can use these types of bank cards: Visa, Mastercard. Staff does communicate in English.

This is a small boutique hotel with the amenities of a five star hotel. Practically what they did is put their experience in hospitality into having all the amenities built into just 29 bedrooms. Besides having an antique reception, they have a bar, a restaurant, a buffet, a garden, inside and outdoor garden, a super spa, outdoor pool, indoor pool.

They have many different treatments in the spa such as fat freezing, massages, pedicures, and manicures as well as qualified therapists. They are open to foreigners but also to locals who have a five star spa, bar and restaurant to enjoy.

I believe that the combination of being in a village is also very good for tourists because they are in the centre of the island here, 20 minutes away from everywhere. Naxxar is a quaint old village with old alleys. Visitors will have an experience of the Maltese village life here and be cut away from all the hustle and bustle offered by other hotels.

What can one expect from the spa and what treatments do you offer?

We have Spa Sana, an area that includes five different treatments, which you do on your own. It is a one-ticket pay all. This time we really concentrated on detoxifying and relaxing the body. In a one ticket pay all, you go in, you have a bio sauna for about 15 or 20 minutes, you go into the ice room where there is ice falling from the ceiling and you can rub it all over you, then you can even detoxify your body in the far infrared cabin.

There is also a salt inhalation cabin where you can detoxify the body from the inside too. Here, you inhale a whiff of salt that detoxifies the body. We also have a hot and cold knipe system, which is beneficial for circulation. Besides detoxifying the body, you are also calming and distressing it. That is one of the features. Then there is the beauty side. We have an extensive selection of massages and facials, manicures and pedicures. We also have specific fat losing techniques; fat freezing and fat melting.

THE RESTAURANT at THE BOUTIQUE HOTEL & SPA, NAXXAR

Denis, myself and Luna dined at the restaurant one evening. They serve a variety of Mediterranean cuisine with a fine dining twist. All dishes are made with only the finest ingredients sourced locally, Greece and Italy. There are options for persons who enjoy pasta, meat, fish and also vegan options.

For the kiddies, they offer a specific menu too including the chicken nuggets and potatoes, which my daughter asks for at this age, so it s easy – and she loved how fresh they were, so much that she ate all her food!

While we were dining we noticed a small Birthday Event being held for a 10 year old so I guess it is also open for small events and gatherings.

WHY IS THE VILLAGE BOUTIQUE HOTEL & SPA UNIQUE?

It is hard to pin point this considering there are so many amazing hotels around the islands of Malta and Gozo.

One unique point is its beautiful SPA located beneath the rooms, its gorgeous country views from the rooms, the large mattresses and soft pillows in the rooms and the peaceful ambiance it offers.

MR ZAMMIT TABONA GIVES US MORE INFORMATION

With regards to the rooms, some more cute details from Mr Michael Zammit Tabona, a person I admire very much as one of Malta’s leading entrepreneurs in hospitality. He has got the eye for detail and has had great success in his endeavours in several businesses. I managed to grab a glass of bubbly with him and a chat before dinner and as always, he is full of positivity and was very kind to me, my daughter Luna and my friend Denis, always making sure we are Ok and always asking if we need anything.

Michael Zammit Tabona is no stranger to the hotel and tourism industry in Malta. His name is synonymous with hotels and businesses that are hallmarks of entrepreneurial success on the island.

Never one to sit idle for long – or ever! – Michael is immensely proud of what The Village Boutique & Spa team has achieved. For him, the journey to get here has been one of hard work, perseverance and ambition.

Michael started off in tourism in Malta in the early 1970s, when the industry was still somewhat of a pipe dream. He followed in the footsteps of his father and uncle before him, who had set up the renowned Tigne Court Hotel in Qui Si Sana in Sliema – one of the first hotels on the island.

I wanted to know more about the dream sleep system in the bedrooms, which is something quite unique!

“We have a complete dream sleep system in the bedrooms. We have chosen one of the most luxurious mattresses ever. We are so proud about this mattress that we have a write up about it in the bedroom. There is also a pillow menu, which explains which pillows are laid on the bed, what pillows are extra and what’s inside the pillow for that complete dream sleep. We also have a mosquito policy. From our experience, people coming to Malta complain about mosquitos so we are advising our clients what to do if they want to attract mosquitos. We try to be different. We try to be fun you know! “

Looking back on his many years in the business, a golden thread runs through it all: Michael’s love for creating fun ways for visitors to experience the Maltese

His dream was to create a small hotel that would feel like a luxurious home on holiday – and to bring Malta’s hidden treasures to visitors and show them the real Malta.

At The Village Boutique & Spa, Michael has nurtured a team of motivated, creative and customer-focused people. They have become a close-knit family and cherish working to bring guests the most serene of holiday escapes to Malta.

Well, we really enjoyed our stay including the last cherry on the cake which included a Full Body Massage by the talented team at the SPA at the Village Boutique Hotel and SPA. I only wish we could have stayed one more day, but this week is one of the busiest times of the year for my personal CRYSTAL & GEMSTONES business so I had to go to tend to the orders that were awaiting my attention by our customers.
