There’s something about being one of those motivated and achieving types of persons. It’s easy to work through a list of tasks and just go go go without stopping. To be honest, it’s stimulating. I love it! It’s like a race against the clock sometimes, a competition with myself, finding ways to out run, challenge and beat my personal best.
There is a strange thrill, putting my creative juices out into the world and seeing how the public reacts to them. These past months have been that for me – producing lots of fresh content, being out there with clients and at events. Some days, I feel I can take on the world and there are other days when I just feel need to calm down for risk of physical exhaustion.
I’m recently beginning to understand the importance of rest amidst all the exciting things I’m up to day in day out. Work hard and rest. Then work harder and rest. Even blocking it in my diary if I must. Just as much as my body and mind long to achieve, my heart does crave some consolation with nature, the beauty of not being in a rush, and finding my own space that feels open and free.
What does rest mean when you have so many lists of things to do at work, things to do at home, things to do for your baby and also time to be a good wife? Well sometimes you really just need to switch off for half a day or a day to feel at peace and centred again, listen to some music I like, go for some relaxing walks or just driving around and singing out loud to Justin Bieber songs – What do you mean….oh oh oh oh …what do you mean …You know the one haha. You have to stop to listen to what you need.
My Look
Before I share some tricks of how I find my rhythm, let me talk to you about my casual look in this blog! Well, you know I have recently been on a shopping spree to the new Benetton outlet at PAMA shopping centre. Well, this was one of the outfits I put together for when the cold days kick in and for when I travel to colder places in Europe at the weekends and I want to feel super comfortable to roam around freely.
I chose this cosy yellow sweater and I paired it with a short black skirt, a grey three-quarter coat and these cute boots which I find adorable. Not to forget these colourful headphones to listen to music in my free time and this little bag to finish off the outfit. This look is such fun and so Benetton, with these vibrant layers and colours. Oh – these shades are also new faves and they are by Emporio Armani.
Photography
I would like to thank the photographer Magdalena Czerny-Muscat of M&J Photo Studio International who who had fun collaborating with me on this shoot held in the village centre of Attard in Malta. She is a professional photographer who specialises in photography for children but she really enjoys doing fashion photography too. Well the photos speak for themselves. So if you too wish to use her services simply contact her on her Facebook page!
Here are a few tricks I use to Find My Rhythm
Do something for Yourself
I love to go to the hair salon just to have a chat and do something that makes me leave looking better! When I have my hair done, everything in the world feels better. Maybe that’s just my thing, but you can do things for you like having a glass of wine in peace or perhaps attending a dance class once a week.
Go somewhere to refocus
Be it alone or with loved ones, going to a destination that makes you feel good and happy is all you need to calm down a little and refocus.
Disconnect and turn all electronic gadgets off
I am one who is constantly glued to the iphone checking feeds from Facebook, Instagram, e-mails, Twitter and oh yes I have to post on Insta Story all the time. So when the phone battery dies and I’m left with just me myself and I, sometimes if is just a blessing in disguise. Leave your phones at home and be alone with nature or with your family and friends.
Schedule a day off
Find at least one day a week to have fun, let your hair down, and relax. I like to catch up with a bestie over lunch or coffee chat. I typically use my Sunday evenings to blog, schedule and get ready for the upcoming week. This gives me a solid Saturday and one good half a day during the week to totally rest or to spend with my two year old twinkle. Rest is as important to the mind and the soul as food and nutrition is to your body’s wellbeing.
Find your own way to rest.
Hope you enjoyed my blog together with all these lovely photos!
Stay tuned!
