CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO PARTY?

Hello there! How are you all? Can’t wait to leave that office to get some fun time right. You have had quite enough of working your ass off this year and you are so ready to say Good Bye and Thank you to 2018 and welcome the new year. And how do we humans do that? We party and celebrate all month this month with dinners, lunches, brunches, cocktails, after-works, Christmas staff party, Christmas family party, New Year’s Eve party and New Year’s Day lunch. Phew! I’m exhausted just typing the lot, let alone planning all the outfits.. wahoo! Ok! So we have about twenty-one parties to attend and what in the world do we wear for each party? Help! Grazielle what am I going to wear to my staff party, to my family reunion, to New Year’s Eve. Oh my! The list is endless and so is the expense and busted credit cards if we are not a little cautious.

OK! Not to panic and take it a few days at a time. Plan the events you have that particular week but prepare the NYE outfit in advance for many reasons. We do need to buy a few new current pieces that are seasonal, like a shimmery cocktail silver dress, a little black dress, and this season suede is big. Get yourself some new accessories including huge flamboyant earrings and new shoes because they will make your look pop, but you don’t have to buy one hundred items. I think one of the best tips I can give you is to go for some staples that you will re-wear come another party 6 months down the line, or to an event with totally different people.

On New Year’s Eve if you want to dance into the night, please do not wear a super tight, long dress showing the most huge cleavage because out of experience darlings, it will end up tampered on, burnt, drenched with champagne and thrown away and never to be used again! Ha.. So if you are a party animal who loves a dance off any day, please go for a short comfortable dress that allows you to feel confident and comfortable. And do not wear shoes that hurt after 10 minutes because you will be obviously be seen spending your night moaning instead of having a ball, complaining about your shoes instead of joining the fun or in some cases spotting the new man in your life. Hellooo! Common sense. Be practical as well as beautiful looking.

This white cocktail dress

This pretty timeless dress from River Island is ideal for a night out with social friends, a champagne and caviar kind of night with room for dance offs. Oh yes the likes I enjoy with my friends Francisco and Denis. Dance dance dance like nobody’s watching.

Here I am wearing Ziio Jewellery from GABA and new shoes from Debenhams at The Point. We shot these photos at the Dom Perignon room on the rooftop at HUGO’s Boutique Hotel, a venue that is perfect for a fantastic party.

Since the name of the bar is the Dom Perignon I took the liberty of looking up some facts about this champagne that is obviously served here at HUGOs. I learnt something and here are a few facts:

FACTS ABOUT DOM PERIGNON

DID YOU KNOW? DOM PÉRIGNON IS AGED FOR A MINIMUM OF 7 YEARS IN BOTTLE BEFORE RELEASE, BUT SOME RELEASES ARE AGED FOR MUCH LONGER.

Dom Pérignon releases each vintage three times. The first release is typically around nine years, the second around 18, and the third around 25. This time-aging on leesgives the wine complexity and richness. Most bottles of Dom Pérignon are first-release bottles, but if a bottle has “P2” or “P3” on the foil, you’ll know that it’s a second or third release, respectively.

THERE IS A ROSÉ VERSION OF DOM PERIGNON.

First produced in 1959, the rosé is often more expensive than the standard Dom Pérignon. Both are single-vintage, but the rosé is Pinot Noir-based.

DOM PÉRIGNON WAS THE CHAMPAGNE OF CHOICE FOR THE ROYAL WEDDING OF PRINCESS DIANA TO PRINCE CHARLES.

The royal couple poured the 1961 vintage in honor of the bride’s birth year. It was reported that 99 bottles were delivered to the wedding, and all were consumed.

4 MILLION BOTTLES PRODUCED EACH YEAR

Part of Dom Pérignon’s fame, is the significant volume of it that is distributed around all corners of the globe. Moét-Hennessy’s policy is to not reveal the volume of Champagnes it makes, probably in recognition of a common fallacy that large numbers of wines and top quality cannot co-exist. We do know that Moët & Chandon, the world’s largest Champagne house, produces 30 million plus bottles annually. My guess is that Moët makes about four million bottles of Dom Pérignon annually; it could be more, it could be less. In my mind, this production makes Geoffroy’s work at Dom Pérignon even more amazing.

Do you know what it tastes like? Visit HUGO’s if in Malta and ask for a bottle 😉

Ladies and gents, enjoy your parties, have fun and yet be careful as not to drink and drive. Book a taxi instead OK?
