Chasing the Sunset at RedWhite Rooftop Restaurant

I think everyone has their own definition of the phrase “Chasing the Sunset”. For me, it means seizing most of each day and chasing my dreams. When your time in a certain place is limited, you want to enjoy every moment and see and feel and smell everything you can while you are there. This often means that you are working against the clock, which by nature’s standards, is the sunset. So for me, “chasing the sunset” means I am trying to fit in all I can before there is no more light to guide me—essentially, before there is no more light to illuminate the city I’m in!

This month, we fitted in a catch up dinner with a couple of friends of ours – Trinity and Kurt Camilleri Burlo – both entrepreneurs in the interior design and owners of Camilleri Burlo Architects & Designers. Parents like us and very easy going personalities, it is so easy to have a conversation with them about our kid’s development and funny situations or drama tantrums happening in the household, apart from talking business and fashion and food of course! Trinity follows my blog and loves fashion and food so I thought that she and Kurt would enjoy one of these restaurant experience outings with us! We dined at a popular place in Rabat called RedWhite Roof top, that came highly recommended by a friend.

So, I wore my new embroidered floral dress and matching little pretty pink bag (both from River Island at The Point) and inspired by my idol Jennifer Lopez, I thought of trying out a new hairstyle that is very trendy this season, so I pulled it up using Milkshake hair styling spray into this high bun to complement the look – and off to the restaurant!

OUR DINING EXPERIENCE at RedWhite at Palazzo Castelletti

We met at the rooftop of the restaurant just in time for sunset and enjoyed a couple of glasses of Rose’ D’Anjou at the high tables before sitting for dinner. Beautiful place to catch the sunset! It was very busy that evening with two or three large corporate event groups so to me it meant that it is a popular venue for private functions and family type outings.

STARTERS

For starters we tried different things and we all tried a little of each – all very tasty.

For mains we tried a varied selection of items. These included:

• Char Grilled Seabass served with curry and coconut mussel cream pickled vegetables and potato croquet.
• Moroccan Lamb Shanks with cumin and vegetable couscous, rustic fried potatoes and lamb jus.
• Pulled Pork Burger with Old Amsterdam cheese, cabbage slaw, Smokey BQQ and crispy onions.
• Garganelli Beef and Wild Mushrooms which are Shitake mushrooms, porcini flamed in brandy and finished with cream.

It is quite interesting that the menu has so many varieties to choose from including salads, pasta and pizzas as well as meat and fish. Decent sized portions and served in Mediterranean looking plates to go with the rooftop atmosphere in the heart of this Maltese town.

“ I see this place as ideal for parties, get togethers, staff events. You can enjoy a stroll in Rabat or Mdina, the silent city and then stop for a relaxing dinner experience here.” Grazielle

TIME FOR DESSERT

Despite all the food we tried, we did leave some space for sweets. We enjoyed a selection of desserts to share between us. While eating these, I thought to myself that this venue could also be a good excuse for a high tea or coffee and dessert stop after a day at work.

To conclude, my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to RedWhite at Castelletti Palace and I’m sure we will find a good opportunity to pay this place a visit again some time soon! Thank you Trinity and Kurt for joining us and thank you Redwhite for your warm welcome!
