BOXING MY FEARS AWAY – BOOM

Lovin the journey so far .

Hi Everyone. Hope you are coping OK with everything. To post something different on my blog, I just thought  I’d kick a punch and share what I’ve been juggling in my exercise regime in the past 10 weeks, alongside adapting to the new norm, surviving the challenging life side kicks and finding great ways to stay positive during Covid!

It was precisely 10 weeks ago that I pulled the trigger and said YES to challenging myself to try a Boxing Lesson with Sean Cassar, a good friend in my community in Malta, who has recently offered the opportunity to teach what he knows through his many years of boxing practise and fights in Miami and LA and Australia before residing in Malta. I hade no idea what this sport entailed before I stepped foot at Sean’s home in Swieqi and started from scratch with the very basics including right and left punches, hooks, lower and upper cuts in various combinations while standing on two feet, trying not to lose my balance and staying focused on the one hundred things to do at the same time, to achieve the right pressure and angle and movement.

Boy! I thought I was fit – well because I run 5 K every morning and lift a few weights every so often – but hey! not even close boy.. when you are boxing, the training is so hectic that it feels like sprinting in a 200 m race in a matter of 2 minutes! Boom – and that is why my body is seeing immediate results – and that is why I feel stronger and tougher than ever before.

Boxing is likely one of the most well-known sports in the world. Some of the most famous athletes in the world were boxers, including the legendary Muhammad Ali—a name you’ll see on virtually every list of recognizable athletes. And even those who don’t actually watch boxing have at least seen it in pop culture through the countless movies that chronicle the lives of fighters both real and fictional.

With that in mind, it makes sense that boxing-style training has become increasingly popular over the years. Who wouldn’t want to feel like Rocky when he reaches the top of that staircase? I still think of that movie when Im training outdoors! But working out like a boxer isn’t just punching with reckless abandon—at least not if you want to do it right and get a good workout out of it.

Boxing involves power, strategy, spot-on technique, and good conditioning to help fighters get through round after round against their opponents. In pro boxing, a fight can last up to 12 three-minute rounds with one-minute breaks in-between. That’s a long time to fight. Thanks to my amazing coach Sean and thanks to the Corona Virus pandemic whih cancelled all types of group events, I m focusing on giving it my all at boxing which is also affecting me psychologically – in a good way – to be more goal oriented, more strategy oriented – more To the Point. Comes in handy since I ve recently become a Distributor and Recruiter for TS Life Wellbeing Products!

They started as a Motivating Diary for me to stay on track and to monitor my own progress, but I thought I d share them to encourage you to also try out something new if you are called to, It can literally Change Your Life!
