The Secret Garden presented by PINK Magazine

Hi There! Do you remember the amazing PINK fashion event that was held at Armier Lido in summer, with models jumping off yachts and jet skis in their drop dead gorgeous bodies and outfits onto the runway on the beach? Yes, and if you don’t recall it, I’m not exaggerating. That’s the type of lack of limits the PINK team set themselves every year, with a dream to create an out-of-the-ordinary location. This time, for the 9th edition of the PINK event, held on Thursday November 30th, we were treated to a SECRET GARDEN theme with a stunning and serene venue created inside Sherries Estates in Burmarrad.

Part one of the excitement for me as a very curious and visually inclined being was to walk inside the mysterious destination and to see what the team of creators prepared for us. As an event organiser myself, I totally admire unique set ups and attention to details such as the lighting, signage and musical background.

My Look

That together with the pleasure to get dressed up in an outfit that resonates with the theme and current trends. So I went for a very pretty floral dress complemented by a white faux fur waistcoat by Mangano Malta, styled and accessorised with a metallic Ripani bag, black patent heels and dark red jewellery from La Boutique at Palazzo Parisio. Hair was curled softly pulled up a little on the sides, almost like the hair style chosen by the stylists for this show. Mere coincidence. Everyone loved this look!

About the Show

Inspired by its floral surroundings, beautiful models walked up and down the green runway catwalk of The Pink Fashion Show to live tribal beat music in this garden set. Some of Malta’s leading fashion brands transported us to a serene place to allow us to relax, enjoy the show and discover the magic of the top trends for the party season ahead.

The models looked good in their flowing, loose hair having two small braids along the sides to keep the hair away from their faces. Make up look was interesting, soft tones on the eyes and cheeks and contrasted with an aggressive black or dark grey lipstick – all this was the work of a team of top make-up artists including Chris Attard, using Guerlain, and Screen hairstylists.

Participating brands included clothing and accessories by Furla and Oltre, Rosita Silk, O’hea Opticians, Monsoon, DOR Boutique, Parfois, Marks & Spencers, Kipling, Radley, Aldo and Jennyfer.

I caught up with Fiona Galea Debono, Fashion Editor at PINK Magazine and journalist at The Times of Malta who is one of the main organisers behind this event and I asked her how she feels after this edition and will her team keep organising this event every year?

“The ‘pressure’ to organise an event that is better than the last is quite a strain on us, but I think we can safely say we pulled it off with the ninth edition of The Pink Fashion Show. It’s a logistical nightmare for Veronica and I, but we tend to forget about the headaches when we see our guests enjoying the fashion scene we’ve created. Finding an original indoor venue to seat our usual 500 guests comfortably is no mean feat and we’re pleased Sherries Estates bought into the idea because it turned out to be the magical night we hoped for.”

We certainly did enjoy the event. Thank you and well done once again. As you have probably seen on my Instagram Videos that day, I had a blast with my bestie Denis Aljush and I’m already curious to see what will be next theme – but that’s the curious me talking! When I asked Fiona, she said after stopping breathing for a few seconds. “Great question on the same day that we are still catching our breath… Well every time I say this is the last one .. but the love for what we do and the encouraging comments from guests makes us dive into it again and again. Once again a grateful thank you goes out to all our sponsors who make it possible“.
