Orange Dress at Radisson Blu

The month of August is one full to the brim with outings and dinner appointments with friends and family and of course this week in Malta and Gozo islands everyone is celebrating the Santa Maria Feast. For a glorious day of feasts nothing beats August 15th which is also a public holiday. Seven localities hold a huge festa that day. Celebrations are held in style and zest in all the village piazzas. The day is in commemoration of the ascension of Our Lady, mother of Christ and beside the fireworks and colourful stuff, you also get a variety of food, drink and festive marches with people having endless fun.

We will visit one of them but more often than not we try to find more peaceful places to enjoy some peaceful dining. It’s not a secret that I love to wear colour and you will see me in the brightest of yellows and pinks, blues and greens every summer. If you ask me how to best pick the colour that suits you, I can’t give you a colour formula that guarantees success , but what I can tell you is that when choosing your colourful items, be it block or patterned, you have to make sure you pick colours that go with your skin tone.

Why? Well, to begin with they will compliment you and they will bring you to life – whereas some colours can just make you go all flat.

For example, when you have a fair skin, you should definitely opt for a bright red as it will look stunning on you too. If you are dark skinned or very tanned like me, you can choose from more vibrant colours like yellow and bright pink and lime green depending on the fashionable palettes. Then, of course, there’s always something as your favourite colours. It’s hard to step away from them sometimes, but if they just don’t work on you, you have to be honest with yourself; as much as you love a colour, if it doesn’t suit your skin, learn to let it go… It’s OK there are so many colours on the planet!

My Look

One pretty dress that caught my eye at River Island this week is this one. I couldn’t wait to wear it to a recent dinner outing to The Edge restaurant at the Radisson Blu Hotel in St Julians Malta. It is a warm orange maxi dress. I like the fabric and its design. It is one of the newest dresses in at River Island at The Point it. I picked it for August summer night outings to dinners like this one and also a small intimate family wedding in September. It is light and flowy, summery and elegant and you know me and the colour orange – well, we are good friends!

I styled it with this nude embroidered purse from Aldo Shoes, nude stilettos from Mineli, matching earrings and a hand bracelet from Virag Jewellery and these bronze Persol sunglasses.

The Edge

During week days, guests at The Edge restaurant may choose prime cuts of meat and fresh fish from a display and master grillers cooking the selections. We were here during the week when there was a buffet including my favourite Spanish dish – the paella, Italian pizza, salads and a generous buffet including meats, fish, cheeses and salads. We enjoyed entertainment by a local singer that evening, all this in full view of the Mediterranean sea and the stunning Dragonara Casino in the distance. Pleasant evening indeed and very pleased we went here to enjoy dinner and shoot this outfit to show you. The Edge at the Radisson Blu in St Julians is a place is fantastic for both romantic dinner and group events and we highly recommend it.
