Something a bit different in my fashion and travel blog today – a highlight on Henry London watches, internationally distinguished designs, that have been launched in Malta a few months ago at VIP at SunLab stores.
To complement the vintage concept of the brand I organised this shoot in collaboration with BBY fashion in Malta and a new, stylish venue in Malta called one80 kitchen and lounge. We had an Austin 6 from 1934 still in it’s original state brought in as a prop and as a guest model I invited my friend and makeup artist Janice. She is usually behind the scenes, but today I dragged her out with me and she enjoyed it a lot. Have a look at some of our favourite photos and let us know what you think
The History of Henry London watches
Two young, successful fashion designers were exploring London’s vintage districts including the famous Portobello Road street market in London. One of them caught sight of an old, beautifully designed, Swiss wristwatch which had the words ‘Henry, August 1965’ mysteriously engraved on the back of the case and bought it. Her partner later that day, also fell in love with the watch . Inspired by the attention to detail usually found in luxury watches, the couple together worked meticulously for years on the idea of reinventing this “Henry” watch for the new generation .. and the rest was history! Today you will find these watches all around the world.
What I think about these watches
These are clever pieces that manage to incorporate design codes associated with more expensive watches into something that won’t break the bank. They feel robust and look super stylish too. Each of the watches in their collection embodies the tagline “Inspired by the Past… Reinvented for you.”
Although reasonable in price, it doesn’t mean the brand has cut corners. The dial cover may not be sapphire crystal but it still has that arched look you get from vintage watches, the dial is a has a slight opalescence, which stops it from looking flat.
Visit one of your closest Henry London stores to see all the collections they offer including the Pimlico Collection and the Shoreditch Collection that I have a soft spot for. In Malta, they are available at VIP in Sliema and SunLab at Tigne Point.
