Charles & Ron Spring/Summer 2016 Launch Party

This week I was invited to attend the launch of the Spring/Summer 2016 Collection by CHARLES & RON , Malta’s leading high fashion duo.

The invite was ever so classy and immediately highlighted the main colour palette of their collection – canary yellow, dusty blue and white with the Eyes of Osiris, which you will find on Malta’s traditional fishing boats, the Luzzus and in several designs in this collection.

The event was held in their new flagship store in Valletta. As usual, it was very well attended by persons who love the brand, fashionable people and quite a few VIPs persons in the Maltese fashion, media and also the music industry. Free-flowing champagne and a fantastic buzzing atmosphere.

Charles and Ron’s collection for Spring/Summer 2016 is a truly vibrant and colourful one – a showcase of striking prints inspired by the traditional Maltese luzzu. In contrast to the Fall/Winter 2015 collection, which saw gothic fabrics and purple, emerald and velvet black palettes, we now have a striking canary yellow, teamed with dashes of dusty blue for a truly Mediterranean Love Affair, warm and friendly like Malta and these two talented designers.

I have a soft spot for yellow as you might have noticed by now so I love this collection very much. The silky fabrics they used present a myriad of flowy designs that are suited for different body types and skin complexions and so perfect for events coming up in spring and hot summer months.

In this collection, black makes another appearance, in the long skirts and trousers, but has now shifted its presence to sleeker materials. Their geometric designs always need a couple of basics such as white and black for mixing and matching. The Kymono sleeve is pleasantly back in this collection. Love it too, especially on the short dresses!

Charles & Ron seemed to have had a lot of fun exploring geometry in this collection. It is quite clever! This can be seen not just in the clothing line, but also in the handbags. Squares and triangles, and interchangeable triangles inside the squares. Once again, they are signature C & R style, minimalistic but striking, very well designed to match the outfits.

I always enjoy their events because I get to celebrate the fantastic work of these gentlemen and I also get the opportunity to meet so many fashionista friends who I don’t get the chance to meet up with – all in one event. Needless to say, I left the party with a new item from this exciting collection, so you will be seeing the one I picked in one of my upcoming blogs!
