News from London Fashion Week

This week, thanks to live press releases and social media bloggers sharing updates on Instagram and Twitter live from London Fashion Week 2016, I was able to get a very good feel of some of my favourite collections this year. Here are a few highlights of brands we love!

Topshop

Topshop is an affordable brand loved by many fashionistas and over the past years they added a catwalk touch by having featured collections from Kate Moss. Topshop unique and top shop design were present during this years LFW 2016.

Their collection includes mostly a mix of evening looks together with easy club wear and sportive pieces. The colours used were mostly earthy and grey tones having the odd bright pink appear on the catwalk. A little unusual for the fun brand normally boasting more colours and bold patterns.

There is also more of a casual feel to their collection. Going out in trendy gym wear is highly featured in many pieces, from fur lined bomber jackets and body tight leggings to leopard sweaters we all love a comfortable outfit!

A Little more of a sleeker club wear / evening look featured quite a few short hems balanced with turtle necks, jump suits and half boots, cropped high waist leather pants and sweetheart necklines tube tops.

Mulberry

Mulberry has been out of London fashion week since their CEO resigned in 2013. They recently appointed a new creative director Johnny Coca who was previously in charge of the handbag brand Celine. The anticipation for Mulberry was mostly for their bag collection and during LFW16 they presented “The Clifton”– a useful and stylish over the shoulder bag having various colours such as red, tan and black!

Burberry

Burberry is one of the most popular shows during London fashion week and there is no reason why not to be. The Iconic British Brand has set the pace for the most wanted trench coat fit for every season.

The Burberry Prorsum collection for London Fashion Week FW2016 highlighted bohemian inspirations from the 70s enhanced with some 60`s flare. The collection features mostly floral prints and layers of fringes which is also captured in their shoe collection. The catwalk brought some spectacular tailored dresses together with slits up the middle of midi skirts, giving us more reason to love this upcoming trend! Suede thigh high boots, rich velvet, as well as deep V plunges also stole our attention during this show, giving the collection that stunning edge.

The use of the fringe is highly popular throughout their collection and this is also seen on handbags, shoes, pancos and details on garments. Its definitely a colourful collection bringing back the peace and love era!
