Spotlight on Yana’s Jewellery Brand

Yana Azzopardi is a young, talented jewellery designer based in Malta. I have seen her start her business in 2010, launch her new outlet in Msida in 2013 and have watched her grow and flourish slowly but surely. Yana is a bubbly character, a lady with an infectious smile, so relaxed by nature, and yet has proven to be a very determined lady in business, with passion and determination destined to succeed in life.

Her works have been featured in countless local publications, and you will find her pieces in the collections of personalities, including entertainment stars, architects, TV presenters, artists, and on all her girlfriends who are her biggest fans!

Why does everyone love Yana’s Jewellery? It is because they are handmade with care and combine vibrant coloured stones, beads, various wire and chain combinations designed to create mesmerising, unique statement pieces for the modern woman of today. Taking inspiration from places she travels to, Yana gets stimulated to create unique pieces using materials and stones for her creations. Her latest collection is inspired from her most recent trip to Bali in Indonesia.

Yana was kind enough to meet me for half an hour the day of her launch entitled “Colourful Journey” held at Palazzo de Piro in Mdina, to talk with her about her work, her favourite lipstick colour and her most recently launched collection!

Q Yana, why do you love what you do?

Jewellery-making is an ongoing art that grows inside me. It gives me the freedom to be creative and free. It also allows me to visualise beautiful pieces and see them worn by women of all ages.

Q A personal fashion question, what is your favourite colour dress?

I would go for taupe – anything neutral.

Q Favourite colour lipstick?

Plum

Q Tell us about your current collection inspired by your Bali holiday launched this month at the Palazzo de Piro?

As you know, I love to travel and I get a lot of inspiration and materials from places I visit. This new collection inspired from my recent trip to Bali encapsulates different textures, colours and shell pendants which are the predominant materials.
