Embracing Individuality and Empowering Femininity on Day 6 of Malta Fashion Week

3 Designers: Gabrielle, Herman Vassallo, Ocantos

I made it to the 6th day of Malta Fashion Week. Thanking you in advance for the amazing and loving comments from sooo many of you on Instagram and Facebook about yesterday’s look. I wore a crisp white tailor-made trouser suit by Fiona Vella Couture, wearing a strong fantasy make up look which must have been the most commented on social media in my entire career!

Let me tell you something about the 3 shows we enjoyed very briefly. Many videos of these shows are still on Instagram stories @graziellecamilleri, so do try to catch them before they disappear into cyber space!

GABRIELLE (Presentation)

The first presentation was by the designer Gabrielle. The main concept behind tha artist’s collection titled “RUBY CAROL” is to push boundaries whilst incorporating classical tailoring with a touch of glamour and a pinch of sassiness. She specialises in figure hugging creations which are bold yet easily wearable embracing individuality and empowering femininity. Colour palette – Black, browns, beige.

This designer created pieces for the daring, playful, edgy woman who loves to play with sexy yet refined fabrics like latex and leather. Models walked out into a kind of courtyard set up to a standing audience. We saw attractive, interesting desgns , all very pret-a-porter actually. There was a lot of attention given to the hair and the make up which gave the ladies an aggressive, uber confident feel.

Well done Gabrielle. Thank you for having us at your show at Malta Fashion Week!

HERMAN VASSALLO (Fashion Show)

The second show, the fashion show held on the main runway was definitely a remarkable Couture representation by designer Herman Vassallo. He showcased his elegant collection called DYNASTY.

Nowadays it feels like there’s a difference between Haute Couture and Haute Couture. I’m not the one judging which collection by which designer falls under the true meaning of “Haute Couture”. In craftsmanship, it is translated into hundreds and hundreds of hours by countless people, to create one couture piece. I’m the one who loves to judge a collection by its looks, whether it’s Haute Couture or ready to wear.

Herman’s collection was lovely and the audience loved each piece as it hit the runway. It was also sweet to hear a cheer when for the first time on the Maltese catwalk at Fashion Week a transgender model strutted her stuff wearing one of his gowns. When the model Karly Naudi took to the catwalk for her big debut during Parascandalo’s show on Sunday, it was a massive step forward for Maltese society, breaking a little taboo, as she became the first transgender model to walk at Fashion Week. As you can see from some of the photos Herman’s collection was striking and stunning. Well done Herman and thank you for an amazing show! You did your mama proud 😉

OCANTOS (Fashion Show)

Last but certainly not least, Eduardo Perez Gonzales Ocanto from Argentina, the creator of the brand OCANTOS presented his breathtakingly beautiful and colourful collection. For the past 8 years, he has been experimenting with various fabrics and textures to design different fashion items including shoes, bags and dresses. He showcased his collections at various Fashion Weeks including Feeric Fashion Week, Argentina Fashion Week, Serbia Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and LA Fashion Week and now for the first time in Malta, it was a pleasure to see this designer (who is also an artist by profession) come up with a collection that presents the strength of both his assets – art and couture.

Apart from the gorgeous colours, the designs were gorgeous and all quite ready-to-wear. I spotted quite a few I would wear like right now for summer.

I would like to put a little spotlight on all the models who are all doing such a great job this year. It is exciting to watch up close from our front row seats how good the quality is of local models in Malta’s fashion industry is. The model agencies are always sourcing and training the best models and they are doing a fantastic job. Well done to all the models. We as bloggers also are very proud to see the progress of many of you from year to year sprout into more confident performers. Kudos to you all also xxx

I have a busy day today, including attending my 3 year old daughter’s school concert but I will make it on time to the first show for Day 7! Thank you for your follow. This Fashion Week is one that I will remember, for not only the shows, but as bloggers or influencers, I feel that we are more united and the atmosphere is therefore so much more enjoyable and joyful. Let’s keep uniting for the name of love and in this case – fashion!
