This week while on holiday, we attended the Dubai International Boat Show held between February 28th and March 4th in the Dubai International Marine Club in Mina seyahi. This year this event marked a 25-year milestone with a global showcase of a myriad of yachts, mega yachts, accessories as well as spectacular new developments look to boost thriving boating and watersports community.
It hosted no less than 19 superyachts and 38 regional and global launches from the worldโs leading brands. There were exciting on-water experiences for visitors with an expanded beach entertainment area and entertainment areas, making the Dubai International Marine Club, the hub for the best-in-show of the marine industry. We obviously saw several wonderful newly launched yachts up close.
The highlights of the show were too many to list here! However undoubtedly the 19 superyachts, proudly towering over the rest of the boats. The 77m Silver Fast by Silver Yachts was the main attraction, along with the 70m Joy by Feadship, and the 47m Majesty 155 by Gulf Craft.
Erwin Bamps, CEO of Gulf Craft, noted that there was a growing interest amongst high net worth individuals towards owning a superyacht. Silver Fast itself was available for purchase for a whopping $85 million. The personalisation requests that come along with the orders being placed for the superyachts are quite unique.
“Many buyers ask for a helipad on the deck of their yachts; it’s not as uncommon as you would think,” Mr Bamps answered to an interview with local roaming TV reporters.
“Others want a garage, because they want to take their beloved sports car with them wherever they go. One buyer wanted a bonfire pit on his deck to sit around with his guests, and another wanted to plant palm trees on his deck. You definitely get a James Bond vibe with many of these luxury yachts.”
As I said on my Instagram story during the week, when I showed you some awesome boats, everything is grand, and nothing is impossible in Dubai. We enjoyed it and here are some of my photos I snapped for you to see!
