Tenerife, the largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, stands as its most important and heavily trafficked tourism centre. Los Cristianos and Las Americas where we stayed for 2 weeks is full of street art and graffiti.
The Paseo Rincon del Puerto links the old and new areas of Los Cristianos and Las Vista in Tenerife so it is the perfect spot to praise the merits of Tenerife’s natural and cultural heritage. A colourful and visually pleasant series of giant murals have been splashed onto the walls of the tunnel entrance and on most walls leading to the Los Cristianos Harbour. They depict large dolphins and whales and turtles in very vivid and bright colours.
One of the world’s largest of its kind, these murals re-create the lives of whales and dolphins in their natural habitat, created by whale conservationists and environmental activists, as a reminder of the need that these animals have for protection from human beings.
They are definitely worth a look when in the area of Las Vistas Beach and Los Cristianos Harbour.
