Thursday night was the final day of shows of Malta Fashion Week held at Fort St Elmo, which was followed by a closing reception party sponsored by SAMSUNG.
The much awaited Maltese designer Ritienne Zammit wowed the crowd with her new collection VIVA inspired by Maltese Saints and Churches. This impassioned line designed with strong emotion at its core, expresses and explores devotion towards Malta’s traditional Festa celebrations. Through Christian iconography, VIVA honours the patron saints celebrated in the respective village Festas.
Ritienne’s prints and designs, representational of the life and martyrdom of these patron saints, explore and honour the profound lives of these religious figures. The collection concurrently praises the foundation of her native Maltese heritage, as these traditional Festas are a part of one’s upbringing, here in Malta. Just as the expression suggests, VIVA expresses support and admiration towards the tradition and those commemorated through each celebration. The lead make up artist was Elaine Galea while the lead hairstylist was Chris Galea. I look forward to wearing and styling some of these pieces myself this season! Thank you Ritienne for putting up an amazing show!
SAMSUNG CLOSING PARTY
The show was followed by a reception hosted by Samsung. After an entire week of shows and events Fashion Week would not be so fun without a final party. With free flowing drinks and canapes all evening, guests including myself had a lovely time catching up and posing for photos of course!
Thanks for having me and look forward to Awards Night which will be held in Valletta at the Triton Fountain Square once again. I hope the weather will hold up fine!
