Last Friday, I had the pleasure to be invited to attend the Miss Universe Malta beauty pageant organised by Glow Promotions, a prestigious event directed and organised by Jeff Francalanza and Alan J Darmanin. Francesca Mifsud who was up against 24 other contestants, was crowned Miss Universe Malta 2018 and she also won the Best Physique award. A law student with a beautiful presence, she will surely be an excellent representative for the Maltese islands and I congratulate her wholeheartedly for her achievement this year and for the warm messages she conveyed about empowerment and determination. Lyann Iles, also a very beautiful contestant, placed second, while Marilena Gauci from Mellieħa placed third. Francesca will now represent Malta in the Miss Universe contest in New York.

This year, I was privileged to be involved in selecting a winner for the Blogger’s Choice Award together with blogger Denis Aljush and as a result the winner Lyann Iles was chosen. She will be joining us in September to Milan Fashion Week and be involved in a photoshoot project planned for her.
These beauty pageants are very interesting and I commend all the persons who participate because it means that they are ready to pursue a challenge, they are ready to learn something from their experience and they are also ready to face criticism and judgement. After applying for the competition they have 3 to 4 months of preparation including physical training, walk coaching, PR and Media training and they get to practise for photoshoots, make up preparation and they receive styling tips from professionals.
Working towards a goal is always a good idea and it is lovely to see how some of these already beautiful ladies have progessed so much in their self development. Well done once again to the organisers and all the sponsors involved for an entertaining production and for keeping many young girls motivated to keep being the best version of themselves they can be.
For this event, I wanted to go for something unique – glamorous and memorable. Together with some imagination by Gaetano Couture, inspired by the royal mermaids of Atlantis and the underwater worlds, Gaetano made this gown for me for this event. We went for something daring and different. Glamorous and fun. I have always been fascinated by mermaids and mermaid stories. Sirens bring to mind images of lovely mermaids sitting on rocky shores, singing out and luring impressionable sailors to their doom. I’m more of a loving one who spreads joy and hope to the ones who feel lost. Mermaids have long captured the imagination of the public. They have thrilled us in documentaries, paintings and fairytales! So wearing a beautiful gown like this, feeling like a glamorous Mermaid from Atlantis, is the closest tribute I can make to these supernatural creations.
I wore a custom-made Aquamarine ring too. Aquamarine is the gemstone of the sea, and it’s supposed to be a cherished object for mermaids. It is a calming stone and aids one to speak the truth, something very useful for my work as a blogger and as a person who enjoys genuine relationships and discussions about life and the world we live in.
I had my hair styled by the team at Mixas in a soft upstyle while my make up was classic glam by Janice Darmanin. I loved the final look and everyone I met at the event loved the dress and what it meant to me.
Thank you Gaetano for yet another creation I loved and that will remain in my memory for a long time.
Hope you enjoyed this blog! Stay tuned for my next outfit post out soon
