This new book recently launched in Malta and so ready to fly over to an international audience is designed to empower children to empower the world. Starring young Jake and Emily, very relatable characters, the book gives children of all ages an insight into ten superpowers that they possess, from the power of curiosity to that of intuition to that of imagination, this is an interactive book bursting with colourful and striking artwork to keep our superhero fans enthralled and wanting to save the world as we know it.

“This is a tool which will cultivate an awareness of inner strengths and help our young warriors battle anything that comes their way,” author ‘Aunty Sab’ said.
My daughter Luna and I were lucky enough to receive a copy the minute it was launched and we finally made time to explore it together. There are many things we like about it. One of them is that it is not just a book in which the parent reads the story and shows her child the pics, ie a one-sided activity. We’re The New Superheroes is tactfully and thoughfully written, designed to serve as much more than that.
It is here to show our children how to be their true extraordinary selves, to be themselves and teach them how to use their heart as an inner compass, to treat themselves well, run their own races and to connect with their dreams.
Quite different to some very old fashioned books of nursery rhymes we are accustomed to, which are also cute, this particular book written locally by Sabrina and Emma helps us to teach our children, through these characters how to cultivate their inner hero, to show them their unlimited potential and to teach them how to think like a hero.
Imagination is one of the 10 super powers
Of course hyper children like my daughter will take some things literally so apart from flying in their imagination, you will see her jumping across the living room in superhero style and sliding across the floor in her superhero socks shouting “I’m Super Giiiirl!” while we go through some of the pages, all this in between snacking and dancing to Trolls songs and Let It Go movies! I’m sure many parents out there will relate. The important thing is that we manage to get some interaction and get them to learn some lovely messages through this book in a fun way.
What I also like about it is that we can go back to the book and open any page and find a different way of discussing a particular superpower the next time round. It is also a book that is fun to read in groups and thus making it a great workshop or party-friendly kind of tool.
For this photoshoot, we were enthusiastic to collaborate with the ever-so-talented photographer Magdalena at M &J Photo Studio International to capture these lovely images of us enjoying the read and sporting some new outfits by United Colors of Benetton. The young pretty girl you see reading the book with Luna is Magda’s daughter Maya who has so many exciting dreams including becoming a fashion model. I wish her and all the kids so much luck and fun and I totally endorse this book as a modern mother who wishes to empower all kids and adults to follow their hearts and follow their most passionate dreams!
Well done to Aunty Sab and Emma for this book. Wish it had more pages! haha
