Hi ladies! How many of you really wake up and start singing with glee because you are going to work and use that extra hour or two before work to try on work outfits ideas with a smile on your face?
Yeah. I thought so.
How many of you, every week 3 out of 5 times, find yourself running late, buried in clothes on your bed, which to others might be a great look, but to you they’re all stuff that bring out the fashion monster inside you, leaving you frustrated as you stand in your underwear staring at piles, and I mean many piles thinking ”Fantastic! I’ve got nothing to wear. Woman, I feel you!
Despite overflowing cupboards and wardrobes, some days I Never have Anything exciting to wear to work or I don’t want to wear an outfit I have worn like a hundred times! (sigh)
So, as I was looking for some autumn inspiration for myself, I was thinking of writing a blog to share, one to perhaps help us freshen up our office looks this season with a few stylish office outfit tips.
Office pieces sometimes tend to be too serious. Even though we swear by the blazer/pencil skirt uniform, there are some basic rules to respect, and it can be challenging to pull off a desk to dinner outfit. The key is to keep it cool yet classy enough to avoid any dress code issue and look like you’re ready for a night out! Here are some tips I personally swear by
1. Go For the Trousers
Some call them smart and classic. Others call them trendy, sexless and super versatile. As sexy as a pencil skirt can be, tailored trousers will always have my heart. Suits have been very trendy since the 80s. Today, fashionistas wear blazers and tailored suits with… almost everything: ruffles, button up shirts, band tees, sweaters and so much more. Here are a few styled looks I would totally wear.
2. When in doubt try going for 2 tone or 2 colours
Black and nude for example scream autumn chic. Build an outfit of clean lines and fitted silhouettes with these two colors and you’ll look seasonally stylish. Don’t forget shoes and a bag to complete the look! Check out this inspiring one!
In this blog I am wearing a turquoise shirt from Michael Kors and I styled it with a high waisted Elisabetta Franchi pair of trousers and a Michael Kors purse. Two colours that I like this season. To complete the look I went for these Emporio Armani sunnies. Shoes are by Aldo and how lucky am I that they are the exact colour of my new shirt. I wore this look to a meeting in Valletta but I would also add a black blazer or a larger tote type bag when I have to carry documents, cameras and chargers for example and when the temperature drops.
3. The classic look is always safe
Probably the most common and easiest way to dress for office and nail the wear to work situation, this work outfit is perfect for all jobs. But it’s also the most likely to get you looking boring, unless you remember this ONE TIP that I practice.
TIP: Always wear a statement piece, or add a fun item to your look for example a fun pair of shoes, accessorise with a hot bag, statement jewellery, maybe a watch, think about the colour on your lips and nails. It’s all in the details my friends.
4. Glamorous Look at the Office
This office outfit is for all those sexy women who also run the world, but prefer to do it in glam office attire: bright lips, sky high heels and office outfits that can go from 9 am to late dinner cocktails.
TIP: Don’t shy away from the marvellous heels, classy perfumes, rich fabrics, pencil skirts and silky blouses, long trousers, statement golden necklaces, brand watches and massive bags or clutches and coats in winter. These ladies are the ones who are not afraid to flaunt it all in an office where being fashionable is normal.
Ladies, I hope you enjoyed this little inspirational blog for the week ahead.
Wish you all a fun week doing whatever your work is. When we have a positive attitude to the week, everything is so much more fun and rewarding.
Love and light to all
