Hello Everyone! June temperatures in Malta and the Mediterranean have shot up these past weeks, making us all wish we were by the pool sipping cocktails instead of working at the office desk right? Well I have some very refreshing news to share with those of you residing on the Maltese islands who are looking for a cool chill out place after work. This summer, for the first time, the Merkanti Beach Club at Hilton Malta is offering an After Work special to the general public.
From Monday to Friday from 4pm onwards, for the price of €15 per person, guests can enjoy the use of pool, umbrella, sunbed, towel and a complimentary drink (a glass of prosecco or a beer). In Malta, the sun sets at around 8 pm in summer, so that gives you about 4 hours to enjoy after work alone or with some friends of yours.
When I heard about it, I went to check it out last week when the heat wave struck but with the cool breeze we enjoyed it anyways. I went at 4pm, enjoyed a complimentary glass of Prosecco wine while sunbathing by the pool and afterwards I thought of sampling the food menu too to see if I can organize some social afternoons or meetings here.
The Merkanti Beach Club and Bistro is the one situated at the same level as the Portomaso Yacht Marina right by the water sports centre, at the water’s edge offering stunning views and a delightful atmosphere. Entrance is from there or from the main hotel entrance.
Food at the Merkanti Beach Club is served all day Monday to Thursday till 19:30 and Friday to Sunday till 20:30. Serving a varied selection of pizza, pasta, burgers, salads, sandwiches and grills, the Merkanti Beach Club is ideally suited for families, business lunches, corporate barbecues as well as private functions. Carlo the photographer and I were famished so we ordered some food from Merkanti including these very tasty chicken tortillas served with tasty dips and a Mediterranean salad. Such tasty food in a lovely venue!
If I were you, I would jot it down on one of your things to do this season! After Work at Merkanti Beach Club. If you are interested in checking it out for yourself all you have to do is purchase tickets from the towel hut on level 3 of the Hilton Malta Hotel. Booking is not possible and is on a first come first served basis.Hope you enjoyed this little discovery and also my two outfits today!
